Falling Angel — Behind the Scenes Shibari Art by Hikari Kesho

Some shibari enthusiasts enjoy creating shibari art.  One of the best in the world is famous Italian fashion photographer and shibari rigger Alberto Lisi, aka Hikari Kesho.

A Cyber Shibari Performance by Hajime Kinoko in London

Kinoko Hajime is a professional shibari artist who travels around the world doing performances and teaching workshops.  He is one of the current Japanese Shibari Superstars.  This video was recorded in 2010 at Torture Garden in London.  In this performance, he adds theatrical effects to his shibari rigging with specially treated ropes that glow brightly in ultra violet light.

Kinoko Hajime Performs in a New Traditional Shibari Show in 2016

Kinoko Hajime is one of the current Japanese Shibari Superstars.  He is a professional shibari artist who travels around the world doing performances and teaching workshops.  This video was recorded at one of his performances in 2016 at Department H in Tokyo.  His performances are very nice and frequently very theatric with special lighting, etc.

A Shibari Performance in the Japanese Style by Nina Russ and Sophia

Nina Russ is an Italian girl who fell in love with shibari.  She has migrated to London and has become a student  and partner with Esinem, who is a prominent London based shibari participant.  She has become an excellent shibari model, rigger and educator.  Both of them have studied with Japanese shibari masters, and have adopted the opinion that shibari should be performed like the Japanese masters, which they feel is the only true shibari.  Most western riggers have moved on from this opinion.

A Shibari Strappado Tutorial by Tracker

Here is one variation for constructing the strappado, demonstrated by Tracker Dan with Innovative Fiber Arts.    Besides tying the model’s arms behind the back, it provides a chest harness that can be used to protect  the model in case of a fall.  Tracker Dan also demonstrates techniques to help protect the model from nerve damage that might be suffered during this tie.

A shibari performance by Hikari Kesho at Vecchiato Arte

This is a short performance by Hikari Kesho in front of an audience in an art gallery,  Vecchiato Arte. Hikari Kesho is a famous Italian fashion photographer, and an excellent shibari rigger. He regularly creates works of art with his models and the help of shibari rigging.

Some people like to use shibari techniques with their model to create works of art.  They use ropes to help their model get into positions they could not do without the ropes, creating living sculptures.  

Alberto Lisi, aka Hikari Kesho, is an Italian rigger and famous fashion photographer.  He is one of the best shibari riggers and photographers in the world, and regularly creates works of art with shibari rigging.

A Shibari Performance by Wildties & Redsabbath at LFRA 2015

This performance by Wildties and Redsabbath at the London Festival of Rope Art in 2015, reflects the change in style they have adopted since their early performances.  They now incorporate more of a Japanese Shibari Style in their routines.  This change includes more “use of ropes as a means of aesthetic erotic torture”.

A Shibari Performance by Wildties and Redsabbath at LFAJRB 2012

According to Riccardo Wildties, he and Redsabbath have changed their shibari style since this performance at the London Festival of the Art of Japanese Rope Bondage in 2012.  He  has studied with Japanese masters and since this performance has adopted more of a Japanese style shibari into their routines.  However, I can see Japanese shibari influence in this performance.  Can you?
