Falling Angel — Behind the Scenes Shibari Art by Hikari Kesho

Some shibari enthusiasts enjoy creating shibari art.  One of the best in the world is famous Italian fashion photographer and shibari rigger Alberto Lisi, aka Hikari Kesho.

This video shows the “guerilla shibari” activity required to create a beautiful shibari living sculpture by Hikari Kesho in S. Marco Square in Venice.

The Art of Contemporary Shibari Exhibit installation at Mother Dog Studios

The Art of Contemporary Shibari Exhibit is the largest display of shibari art in a gallery setting in the world.  This exhibit is hosted by Mother Dog Studios and is part of the Fotofest 2012 Biennial activities.

A gathering of artists –

An international group of 17 world class shibari riggers and photographers sent 159 prints to Mother Dog Studios for this exhibit, which makes it the largest gallery exhibit of Contemporary Shibari Art in the world.  Many of the prints in this exhibit are larger than life. Continue reading

DoctorZ presents “Ballet Dancer”

Sometimes, a ballet theme is used by riggers and models in creating their shibari art.  This is a slideshow video I created with images from a ballet and light sculpture shoot Jamie S and I did together at Mother Dog Studios in the summer of 2011.  The images in this video are not traditional shibari images.  They are some of our interpretations of contemporary shibari art. Alberto Lisi aka Hikari Kesho presents “Railway Bridge”

This beautiful image was included in a featured article in Italy’s Playboy magazine profiling the shibari art of Hikari Kesho.  The pretty model with a colorful kimono in classic shibari rigging contrasts against the industrial construction of an overhead railway bridge and matches nicely with natures colors in an Italian landscape in the fall.

Alberto Lisi aka Hikari Kesho is a famous fashion and shibari photographer who’s work has been displayed in gallery exhibits and featured in many publications.

Fun with Shibari at Morpheous’ Bondage Extravaganza

For the last 5 years in October, Morpheous has hosted a “Bondage Extravaganza” in Toronto, Canada. Hundreds of riggers, models and those who just want to watch and enjoy the scenes gather for a night of shibari activity.  In 2011, Morpehous broadcast his event over the internet.  Over 30,000 people worldwide watched it live.
